According to a press release jointly issued by the Eagle Grove Police Department, a 911 call received “in reference to a shooting incident” around 2:35 in the morning Saturday sent officers to the 100 block of S. Lucas Ave, where one man was found to have been killed as a result of the shooting.
While police have not released the victim’s name the Eagle has identified the victim, but will not be naming him at this time due to his family’s wishes.
The Eagle Grove police department was assisted on the scene by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DCI, the Wright County Quick Response Vehicle and the Eagle Grove Ambulance Service.
Asked if a suspect is in custody, Iowa DCI Special Agent Ryan Herman offered an official “no comment.” However, Herman reiterated that there is no threat to the public, and that the investigation is still ongoing.
