KANAWHA, Iowa – The North Central Iowa Research Association, in partnership with the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will host its annual meeting on Thursday, March 28, at the Wesley Community Center, located at 105 2nd St. South, Wesley.
The annual meeting will feature an update on the capital campaign with association president Greg Guenther; farm activities, by farm superintendent Matt Schnabel; and presentations from guest speakers Richard Roth, nitrogen science education specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach; and Greg Heidebrink, district forester with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Northern Research Farm sign.“It is an exciting time at the research farm as the research association continues to make progress with the capital campaign to build a new research and outreach facility,” said Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist. “In addition, we are pleased to have our new faculty member, Richard Roth, join us to discuss nitrogen and sulfur management in crops, a topic on everyone’s mind as we approach spring.”
The board members have invited Heidebrink to speak as it is crucial for farms to manage and improve windbreaks and farm woodlands, with the potential opportunity of providing farm income from wood products.
