Wright County began work to replace Bridge #211 on County Road 70 (330th St.) in Woolstock on Monday. By press time, demolition of the guardrail was complete, and removal of the old bridge had begun. The project is expected to take between 3 to 4 months to complete, weather permitting.
“The original bridge was built in the 1950’s,” said Marcus Spangler, Engineering Technician with the Wright County Engineer’s Office, “what we’re building is a 145 foot long, 30 foot wide, pre-tensioned, pre-stressed, concrete beam bridge, which should be much nicer.”
Due to the bridge replacement, roads are closed between Franklin Ave. and Alice St. in Woolstock, and a detour has been set up. The detour runs south down White Fox Rd. from 330th St. (C-70) to 210th St. in Hamilton County (on the northern outskirts of Webster City), then travels west along 210th to R27 (Fisher Ave.), where it turns north up Fisher back to C70 (330th St.), on the other side of the bridge.
Those interested in the progress of the build can expect regular updates on the Wright County Secondary Roads page on Facebook, Spangler said.
