A new regular monthly bingo game is now a new regular feature at Pop’s Pizza and Pub in Eagle Grove. And the first one was held on Friday night, and drew a good crowd.
“It’s all a continuation of our commitment to the community,” said co-owner Kay Poppen, adding, “we’ll do this to benefit a worthy cause every month, if we can.” A donation will be made to each cause from the proceeds of each bingo night. “And we just wanted it, really, for the community. That’s what this whole thing is all about.”
The first worthy cause to be supported was the Special Olympics, which holds a special place in the hearts of the Poppens, due to their son Parker’s involvement.
“This was a lot of fun,” Poppen said with a grin. “We just kinda wanted to do something, every month we’ll be doing it for another cause, whatever it is. And we’ll decide every month what it is.”
Keep an eye on the Eagle Grove Eagle’s Community Calendar to keep track of the events, Poppen said, noting that she plans to post them all in the free local calendar, as well as on their Facebook page.
