Sixth graders in Mr. Omvig’s science class learned about the muscular system with an innovative lesson that taught how muscles expand and contract to move things. The lesson centered on an activity that involved using strands to expand and contract an elastic band, much the same way our muscles do, to move and stack objects. How’s that for a new twist on “building muscles”?
