On December 21, the Eagle Grove boys wrestling team placed tenth at the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational in Roland-Story. The Eagles compiled 81.5 team points and finished in the middle of a pack of 19 high schools.
Freshmen Ethan Schreiber (106) and Andrew Orozco (113) both came in eighth in their respective weight classes. Dylan Terwilliger placed sixth at 120, and Hunter Waldo-Martinez finished in eighth at 126.
Hayden Schafer (157) placed fourth overall for Eagle Grove. The junior won by fall and decision in his first two bouts, but suffered a defeat in the semifinals. He bounced back with a win by major decision before losing to an Anamosa wrestler in the third place match. Schafer now holds a 16-2 record going into Christmas break
Jayden Kreitlow earned sixth place at 175. He pinned his first opponent, and with two wins and three losses on the day.
Jesus Baez (285) won by fall in his third place match to bring home bronze. Baez went 4-1 in Roland-Story with three pins.
Cooper Thacker (132) placed seventh after pinning Carter Hadley of Atlantic in his final match of the tournament.
