Eagles Sit At .500 After Destroying WB-M

After dropping two winnable games at the end of 2024, the Eagle Grove boys basketball team appeared restless and eager before Monday night’s matchup against the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines.

The boys came out guns blazing in their first game of the New Year, led by senior Abe Lin’s 16-point 1st quarter. Lin went a quick 4-for-4 with three triples and a layup to start the game and Jaxon Morris penetrated the lane for a contested two. Lin and Morris later connected in transition, and Morris had a pretty finish with his offhand. Abe then found the bottom of the net on a buzzer beating three that gave EG a 24-12 advantage after a quarter of play.

In the 2nd, Josh Miller made the extra pass to shooter Adrian Whipple in the corner. A few plays later, Whip converted on another three-point attempt to extend Eagle Grove’s lead.

Midway through the 3rd, Coach Pedersen opted to rest Lin. The dazed Wolverines couldn’t make any headway in the star’s absence, and Whip showed off his shooting stroke with yet another triple. EG led 54-30 going into the 4th.

Coach Pedersen rested his starters in the final quarter, and Issiac Williams took full advantage of the playing time. Williams finished with seven points as Eagle Grove went on to win 69-41.

Lin had 32 points in the victory. Morris added 10.
