A night after a decisive win in West Bend-Mallard, Eagle Grove hoopers were back at home for a January 7 contest against North Union. The boys came out shaky, but still led 30-22 at halftime over the 2-7 Warriors.

In an amazing sequence late in the 1st quarter, Abe Lin hit a jumper off balance, blocked a shot on the defensive end, and swished a turnaround. A Josh Miller three gave EG a 16-5 advantage.

North Union cut the lead to a single point in the 2nd quarter, but Lin and Miller both converted on putbacks to make it a five-point game. With just a few seconds left in the 1st half, the crowd roared after Lin banked in a buzzer beating triple.

Jaxon Morris converted on a pair of three-pointers to start the 3rd, but the Warriors answered and only trailed by three going into the 4th

In the final quarter, Gavin Pedersen drained a three from his favorite spot in the corner for Eagle Grove. Lin was pulled from the game after suffering leg cramps, though, and North Union promptly tied the game in his absence. The visitors took a 48-46 lead after a steal, and the Eagles missed on a potential go-ahead three ball and eventually lost 51-50.

Miller finished with eight points and 13 rebounds. Morris added 12 points and two steals.

Lin tied for the game-high with 17 points and blocked two shots. Pedersen had six points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
