WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — After a devastating workplace accident left a local lineman severely injured, communities across Iowa are rallying to support Bryan Dayton, a Marine Corps veteran, former police officer, and father of two.

On March 19, 2025, Dayton was working to restore power during a blizzard when he came into contact with a live wire. The incident resulted in severe burns and led to the loss of both his hands and part of his arms. He was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he has undergone multiple surgeries.
Dayton, who lives in Woolstock with his wife Shannon and their two sons, is a well-known figure in the region. Prior to his service as a lineman with the Webster City Electric Department, he served as a scout in the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (1st LAR) of the 1st Marine Division. From September 2013 to July 2017, he also served as a police officer in Eagle Grove.
To help the Dayton family during this difficult time, a benefit event has been organized for Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Salty Suz, 512 Central Ave, Fort Dodge, Iowa. The Bryan Dayton Fun Run & Benefit will feature:
- Food
- Live music (artist to be announced)
- An auction hosted by Schmauß Auction
- A community ride event (ride details to come)
