EAGLE GROVE, Iowa — Iowa Central Community College will offer two new evening classes this May at its North Central Regional Center in downtown Eagle Grove, formerly known as the Career Academy. These hands-on courses—focused on Canva and artificial intelligence (AI) tools for marketing—aim to help residents expand their digital skillsets for personal, professional, or small business use.
The first class, AI Tools for Marketing Success, will be held May 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and is designed for businesses and individuals looking to harness the power of artificial intelligence to transform their marketing strategies. Participants will learn what AI is, how it works, and how to integrate it effectively into their marketing efforts.
Later in the month, the college will offer two Canva workshops:
- Canva 101 on May 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Advanced Canva on May 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Each Canva session is tailored to help participants create eye-catching marketing materials quickly and easily, whether they’re beginners or looking to refine their existing skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops to follow along with the instruction.
Each class is priced at $99.
“These are fantastic opportunities right here in Eagle Grove,” said Colleen Bartlett, Career Academy Specialist at the North Central Regional Center, in a statement. “And I know the instructor,” Bartlett added, “she’s awesome! Knowledgeable, creative, fun, and most importantly, she can break down learning for those of us who are still learning. Hope to see you there!”
Bartlett added that a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course may also be offered in Eagle Grove in June, depending on interest. Additionally, Bartlett suggested anyone wanting to make a change in their career check out the offerings at the Fort Dodge campus as well, which she said included “everything from CNA, EMT to Maintenance Worker, to IT Specialist to CDL to Production Welding and Office Financial Clerk.”
And, Bartlett noted, “tuition could be paid for these classes depending on income.”
“With all these classes, there is always a minimum to offer,” she said. “Many times, people wait until the last minute and unfortunately, the class has been cancelled. Think of your neighbors, church, work, acquaintances—who knows? You may just change someone’s life.”
