City-Wide Cleanup Days Underway

EAGLE GROVE, Iowa — Eagle Grove’s annual Spring Clean Up Days kick off as this issue hits stores Wednesday, and run through Saturday (May 3) giving residents a prime opportunity to clear out clutter and dispose of unwanted items.

Cleanup hours will be Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop-offs are accepted at the Public Works Department, located at 209 SE 1st Street (behind the Eagle Grove Fire Station).

Residents can bring a variety of items for disposal, including appliances, electronics, furniture, tires, and hazardous waste materials. Stickers, required for many items, can be purchased at City Hall (121 N. Commercial Ave) or at the Clean Up Days site. Sticker prices range from $10 to $50 based on the item type, while hazardous waste materials will be charged separately at 50 cents per item.

Accepted items include household appliances like refrigerators, washers, and microwaves; electronics such as TVs and computers; bulky furniture like sofas and mattresses; car batteries; propane tanks; tires; recyclable items; and even vehicles.

Hazardous waste accepted includes household cleaners, paints, oil, antifreeze, yard and bug sprays, pool chemicals, gasoline, and light bulbs.

Some items are not accepted, including fluorescent ballasts, yard waste, construction debris, dead animals, mercury-containing items, needles, asbestos, explosives, fireworks, medications, and large trailer or truckloads of junk.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this annual event to help keep Eagle Grove clean and safe. For more information, contact City Hall or visit during operating hours.
