On Monday morning in the high school upper commons, family and friends surrounded Jesus “Javy” Baez as he signed his letter of intent to continue his football career at Simpson College.
Before the signing, Coach Logan Willard shared a few words about Baez’s dedication to the program and wished him the best in his future endeavors.

Javy is a member of the Class of 2025 and is the son of Guadalupe Lobato and Jose Baez. He was a guard, kicker, and defensive tackle for Eagle Grove. This fall, he will join Class of 2023 EGHS graduates Trent Sorensen and Zach Pamperin on the field in Indianola.
Aside from football, Baez was also involved in track and field, golf, and baseball during his high school years. He is a member of the National Honor Society and qualified for state wrestling this year after winning districts.
After his state wrestling berth earlier this year, Baez told The Eagle that Eagle Grove is just a town full of “small town kids with big dreams,” and eagerly added that he’s “proud to represent EG.”
