Eagle Grove’s girls golf team continued their stellar play last week at three area meets.
In a five-team, Tuesday afternoon tournament at Belmond County Club, the purple and gold placed 2nd overall with 217 total points. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura won with 189, and Belmond-Klemme took 3rd with 226.
Kennedy Thacker tied for 2nd with a score of 45. Caitlin Christopher and Piper Willard tied for 7th with 55’s, and Salem Willard shot a 63 for 16th.
After a day off, the girls were back in action at Eagle Grove Golf Course on Thursday against a pair of conference opponents. The Eagles would finish with a score of 206 and win their home triangular over Belmond-Klemme (221) and West Hancock (303).
Thacker was the meet medalist after shooting a 49 through nine holes. Azlyn Amonson was runner-up with a 50, and Salem Willard finished close behind in 4th with a 52. Piper Willard rounded out the top-5 with a 55, and Christopher shot a 59 for 8th overall.
The ladies enjoyed a Friday off and got back to it on Saturday with 18 holes at Clarmond Country Club. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura won the day with a team score of 385, but Eagle Grove finished ahead of Lake Mills and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with 410.
Amonson was once again runner-up. She finished with a score of 88, ten strokes shy of Audrey Overgaard’s 78. Thacker placed 5th with a 98, and Piper Willard came in 7th with a 103. Christopher was the last Eagle Grove scorer with a 121 and 16th place.
