CLARION, Iowa — The Clover Kids wrapped up their final meeting of the year with a fun, educational celebration that showcased all they’ve learned and gave them a taste of
what’s to come at the Wright County Fair.
Clover Kids, a 4-H program designed for youth in kindergarten through third grade, spent the year exploring hands-on activities that encouraged curiosity, creativity, and confidence. At the final meeting, members practiced key fair skills with a playful twist—hosting a “stuffed animal” pet show. Each child had the opportunity to do a show-and-tell presentation with a favorite stuffed animal, mimicking what they will experience in the official Clover Kid Pet Show at the fair. It was a great way to practice public speaking, build comfort with showmanship, and celebrate each other’s creativity in a fun, low-pressure setting.
Throughout the year, Clover Kids have been learning valuable life skills—how to express themselves, work with others, and complete a project from start to finish. These lessons will be on full display at the Wright County Fair, where Clover Kids can participate in a wide range of exciting project areas, including:
- Static Projects
- Photography Challenge
- Food & Nutrition Challenge
- Bottle/Bucket Calf
- Novice Lamb
- Lil’ Squealers Showmanship Class
- Walk/Trot Horse Classes
- Clover Kid Pet Show
- Clover Kid Poultry Class
- Clover Kid Share the Fun
The fair provides a safe, supportive environment where young members can share their interests and efforts with the public. It’s not about competition—it’s about exploration, learning, and having fun.
“We love seeing our Clover Kids grow in confidence throughout the year,” said Paige Roberts, Wright County K-12 Program Coordinator. “The fair gives them a real sense of pride and accomplishment, and it’s a joyful way to wrap up all their hard work.”
As we head into fair season, the Wright County 4-H team encourages families to cheer on these bright young minds. The Clover Kid program is just the beginning of a lifelong 4-H journey filled with opportunity, growth, and community.
