WRIGHT COUNTY, Iowa – Wright County Extension recently hosted an inspiring “Let Love Bloom” workshop series, giving local youth grades K-5 a hands-on opportunity to explore both artistic creativity and floral design. Through this engaging program, participants not only gained new skills, but also deepened their connection to community and personal expression—core values of the 4-H and Clover Kids programs.

During the workshop, youth experienced the art of glazing ceramic vases, guided by the expertise and generous support of local ceramic artist Mik’s Art. Each vase, uniquely handcrafted, gave participants the chance to personalize their creations before witnessing the transformation that happens in a fiery kiln—bringing their colors and
visions to life.
Following the ceramic work, youth shifted focus to floral design, where they learned how to process fresh flowers and thoughtfully arrange them using the
elements and principles of design. Participants explored the balance of color, texture, and composition as they created their own vibrant arrangements to take home or share with others.
“This workshop beautifully combined creativity and hands-on learning,” said Paige Roberts, K-12 Program Coordinator. “It’s a perfect reflection of how 4-H and Clover Kids programs grow the next generation of Wright County youth—by building confidence, curiosity, and creating sparks through unique learning experiences.”
The “Let Love Bloom” series exemplifies the 4-H pledge to use our hands for larger service and our hearts for greater loyalty. Wright County Extension remains committed to providing educational opportunities that help youth thrive—both as individuals and as members of their communities.
