The 2025 girls track and field season came to an end for all but one Eagle Grove Eagle last Thursday night in Garner.

Record breaking long jumper Addy Jeske launched herself 17’ ¼” for 2nd place and a fourth ticket to the state meet in as many years.  Emmetsburg’s Rachel Schany jumped 17’ 6 ¾” for the district title.

After that runner-up performance at the 2A state qualifier hosted by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Jeske earned the right to represent the purple and gold on May 22 at Drake Stadium’s Iowa High School Track and Field Championships.

Although they didn’t qualify for state this season, four EGHS freshmen had electrifying showings in Garner and laid down valuable groundwork for next season.

Addison Eittreim was 5th in the high jump after clearing 4’ 6”, and Ellie Lenning was a tenth of a second away from the top-8 in the 100-meter dash.

Taytum Edwards clocked in at 27.47 in the 200-meter dash and finished 5th

Myka Anderson ran for 7th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.21), 4th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.33), and led off a 6th place finishing 4×400 relay (4:25.47) that included Jeske, Lenning, and Edwards.

The girls scored 29 points as a team, good enough for 10th overall. Forest City (124), Spirit Lake (115), and Sioux Central (81) placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
