North Union took advantage of EG errors in the 3rd and evened things up 5-5.

In the 4th, Leelan Spencer orchestrated a double play for Eagle Grove’s first two outs, but Warrior senior Caden Walders went yard to give his team the lead.

Later in the inning, the Eagles reclaimed the lead on a two-run double from Spencer that brought home Hayden Schafer and Jaxon Morris.  Jesus Baez reached first on an error, and pinch runner Josh Miller scored on an RBI single from Trenton Robinson.  Whipple continued his hot hitting with an RBI double, and an RBI single from Brett Ascherl made it 10-6 Eagle Grove.

The Warriors responded with a run in the 5th and had two men on, but relief pitcher Trenton Robinson ended the inning with a strikeout.

Another run brought the Warriors within two and they came knocking once again in the 7th.  Morris and Baez connected on a double play in the inning and Morris snagged a line drive to record the final out.

Morris went a perfect 3-for-3 and was also Eagle Grove’s starting pitcher.  He secured the win after three strikeouts and three walks in four innings.

Whipple finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.  Spencer went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, and Willard hit 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Schafer and Ascherl both went 2-for-4 in the 10-8 victory.
