Eagle Grove’s girls basketball team improved to 2-6 after their December 22nd win over the visiting Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars.

Guard Taytum Edwards started the non-conference contest with two 1st quarter threes and a put-back.  Myka Anderson converted on a floater and Adelie Pamperin hit from deep as EG led 13-10 after a scrappy start to the game.

Pamperin would drain another three to start the 2nd.  She then had a steal and had a pretty assist to Edwards as defense led to offense.  MNW hit a three before halftime, but the Eagles still held a ten-point advantage.

In the 3rd, Pamperin hit from three again and had a steal and layup.  She found herself in foul trouble, but Ellie Lenning took over some of the offensive responsibility with four points late in the 3rd.

Eagle Grove led 37-20 after three quarters and cruised to a 48-29 win.

Forward Kendra Schild was a force inside with 14 rebounds, six steals, and a block.  Myka Anderson added nine points, four steals, and three assists, and Taytum Edwards pitched in 15 points and five steals.

Adelie Pamperin swished three triples and finished with 13 points and eight boards.  Ellie Lenning had ten points and six steals.

“I thought we played pretty well against Manson, but there are still things we need to clean up and keep working on,” Coach Zach Whipple admitted after the game.  “Our turnovers and free throws have been an issue all year.”

“We have played three ranked teams through our first eight games,” he continued.  “Honestly for us, it’s all mental.  We are a young team, and we have played too fast in a lot of those games, which causes us to turn the ball over.  Once we figure out that we can compete every night if we slow down a bit, this is a fun team to watch that’s going to win a lot of games.”

The girls will return to their home court on January 5th for a non-conference match-up against the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines (3-3).
