Obituaries are the single most important elements of the historical record of every person’s life. They not only honor the people of our local area as we mark their passing, they also tell their life stories, and preserve them for posterity.
As the official news outlet of record for the city of Eagle Grove, Iowa, the Eagle has been preserving these life stories since 1895.
By submitting your Obituary to the newspaper you’re not just commemorating the recently departed for a week, you’re adding their life story to the largest and most complete historical archive of the city of Eagle Grove, as well as to the archives at the Library of Congress, and the Iowa State Historical Society.
Obituaries include one free photograph (printed in black and white) and only cost $100 for the first 100 words, plus just 25 cents per additional word.
Please note that if you submit a color photograph, your photo will appear in color in digital versions of the obituary, such as a our e-Editions and website listings, but the newspaper obituaries are always in black and white.
