SIGOURNEY – During the March 5 meeting of the Sigourney City Council, the council approved a pair of bids from Renner Construction for street repair on Ringold Street. This included 4,466 square feet as part of the Urban Renewal Project TIF, which will cost $64,320, and an additional 2,234 square feet at a price of $30,150, which was not covered by the TIF, to finish out all of the work on Ringold.
The council also approved adding a new handicap parking spot at the Manor House. Other expenses, like concrete work and painting the lines, will be the responsibility and expense of the Manor House.
Councilman Adam Clark stated that the public safety committee had applied for a Keokuk County Community Endowment Foundation grant to add another speed sign on Pleasant Valley by the high school, facing east, to slow down cars coming into town.
