Speech Students Compete at State

ELDRIDGE – The Southeast Iowa Individual Speech State Competition was held at North Scott High School in Eldridge on March 15. At the state contest, students are judged by three judges.

Sigourney

Tierney Greiner received all IIs for her reading of the poem “Sick” by Shel Silverstein.

Chloe Martin received all IIs for her Spontaneous Speaking

Tri-County

Nathan McDonald received all Is for his Original Oratory “Don’t Just Wave.”

Pekin

Rannen Harbison received all Is in Acting for her performance of Mercutio’s Queen Mab scene from “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare.

Harper Guise received all Is in Storytelling for reciting “Blue Nose” by Margaret Embry.

Natalie Hamilton received all Is in Public Address for her reading of “Graduation Speech 2012 SMU.”

Brinley Phillips received two Is and a II in Musical Theatre for her performance of the song “Calm” from “Ordinary Days.”

Tatum Harbison received two Is and a II in Storytelling for her reading of “Anglerfish,” a segment from the horror podcast “The Magnus Archives” by Jonathan Sims.

English Valleys

Daige Sabin received all Is in Musical Theatre for singing “Made of Stone” from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”

Declan Patterson received two Is and a II in Literature Program for reading“Defining Math,” “How a Math Teacher Changed My Life,” and “Invention vs Discovery,” three pieces about math.

Ellie Patterson received two Is and a II in Literature Program for reading “Garden of Stone,” “Leo’s Battle,” and “Saddest Word.” She also received two IIs and a I in Poetry for reading “Mad Girls Love Song” and “In the Belly of Mad Girls Love Song.”

Kaylynne Hoylman received two IIs and a I for in Prose for her performance of “The Great Camel Tea-Tastrophe.”

McKenna Rugg received two IIs and a I in Poetry for the poem “Just Me.”

Cyrus Morrison received two IIs and a I in Prose for reading “An Uncomfortable Bed.”

Stacia Linder received two IIs and a I for her Original Oratory “Don’t Drink and Drive & You’ll Stay Alive.”

Tyler Wiseman received three IIs in Radio News Broadcasting.

Forrest Schott received three IIs in Spontaneous Speaking.

Ambryn Hoylman received three IIs in Prose for reading “Looking Back.”
