Panthers finish second to Mustangs

BLOOMFIELD – At times it looked like she wasn’t even in the same event.

During the first outdoor track meet of the season held March 27 at Davis County, Chloe Glosser shattered her own record in the 3,000 meter run. In addition to shattering the meet record she also seemed to be able to out run the rest of the competition with ease.

Glosser won the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:14.9, more than 10 seconds better than the meet record, set by Glosser last season. Compared to the second place finisher, Glosser beat Davis County’s Gracyn Ware by over two minutes. Ware finished with a time of 12:16.7.

Glosser’s early win was just an indication of what kind of meet the Pekin girls would have at the battle of the border.

Although the Panthers came up just short in the overall standings. The Panthers scored 172 points, but were well behind Davis County, who won, with a score of 219.5.

The Panthers showed their ability to not just run distance fast, but they also could leap over objects well too. The girls 4×100 shuttle hurdle team of Recce Brisby, Paislee Coleman, Carlie Gambell and Kayse Miller were able to set a new meet record as they won the event with a time of 1:12.59.

Coleman was able to win the long jump with a new meet record. She finished with a leap of 14-feet-8-inches. Carlie Gambell was fifth with a best jump that totaled 13-feet-7-inches.

Coleman was quick on the hurdles all night long as she won the 100 meter hurdles event with a time of 17.59, which proved to be another meet record set by the Panthers. Teammate Brisby was second with a time of 17.91.

Glosser was able to easily win the 1,500 meter race as well. She had a time of 5:29.44 to finish first. Callie Deutchle was fifth in the same race with a time of 6:26.65.

Anna Hadley won the discus throw with a best throw of 134-feet-10-inches. Grace Phillips was fourth with a throw that traveled 89-feet-10-inches.

Hadley also won the shot put with a best throw of 38-feet-1-inch. Taylor Moore finished seventh with a best throw of 26-feet-8-inches.

Addison Smith finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.51.

The distance medley team of Abby Guise, Cambree Earnest, Renae Eubanks and Maddy Petrehn finished second with a time of 5:02.43.

Also finishing second was the 4×800 team of Maddy Petrehn, Chloe Glosser, Renae Eubanks and Callie Deutschle who had a time of 11:27.7.

Callie Deutschle finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:56.86. Breanna Drish was seventh with a time of 3:12.42.

Kayse Miller was third in the high jump clearing 4-feet-10-inches. Teammate Reece Brisby was fifth with a best leap that cleared 4-feet-6-inches.

In the 4×100 event the team of Addison Smith, Coleman, Gambell and Miller finished third overall with a time of 55.37.

The team of Maddy Petrehn, Eubanks, Miller and Smith finished third in the 4×200 relay race.

In the 4×400 relay the team of Eubanks, Guise, Glosser and Petrehn finished third with a time of 4:46.6.

Cambree Earnest led the Pekin girls in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.37 which placed her 10th.

Earnest was also able to finish fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:16.7. Harper Guise was sixth overall with a time of 1:20.07.

In the sprint medley event the team of Addison Smith, Taylor Moore, Cambree Earnest and Abby Guise finished fourth with a time of 2:14.25.
