MARENGO – It could be a preview of what is yet to come.
Last week the Keota boys golf team capped off the week by winning a golf meet hosted by Iowa Valley in what was essentially a miniature SICL conference meet.
The Eagles were able to sit a top of the standings with 324 total strokes. They bested HLV/TC who finished second with 351 total strokes. English Valleys was fifth with 401 total strokes.
Brennan McGuire was able to win the overall medalist honors for Keota with 73 total strokes.
Porter Cave was fourth overall after shooting a 79. Billie Kindred was able to finish sixth with 81 strokes. Cooper Strand was 10th overall with 91 strokes.
Jake Morris placed 20th with 105 strokes.
English Valleys was led by Gage Heyne who shot a 76 to finish second overall. Tyler Lortz was fifth overall with an 80. Owen Mather was able to finish with a 114. Jackson Overy was 26th with 131 strokes. Cyrus Morrison shot a 132 to place 27th. Garin Schaffner turned in a score card with 146 total strokes.
On April 23 the Keota boys golfed at a Williamsburg meet. Despite being the smallest school in terms of enrollment the Eagles finished fifth with 342 total strokes.
Like he would later in the week, Brennan McGuire was able to show off his skills. He shot a round-leading 76. That gave him overall medalist honors.
Billie Kindred was seventh with an 82. Porter Cave was 17th with an 86. Jake Morris was 29th with a 98. Cooper Strand shot a 100 and Trucker Sprouse finished with a 101.
