SIGOURNEY – The celebration was relatively short lived.

A tough schedule greeted the Sigourney-Keota soccer team throughout much of the first month of the schedule, but the Cobras were able to close the first month with a victory.

On April 25 the Cobras were able to down Wapello 3-1.

Both teams took advantage of scoring chances in the first half as Sigourney-Keota struck first with the first goal of the game. The Cobras added another first half goal before Wapello was able to get on the board with a goal of their own.

In the second half defense ruled the way for both squads.

Despite heavy defense from both teams Sigourney-Keota was able to score another goal, helping them achieve the ultimate 3-1 victory.

Throughout the game the Cobras pelted 15 total shots on goal at Wapello.

The defensive pressure from Sigourney-Keota limited Wapello to just seven total shots in the game, of those two were on goal.

The only goal that the Indians were able to score off of came off a penalty kick.

The Cobras would head on the road on April 29 in a game against Hillcrest Academy. In that contest the Cobras fell 11-2 to the Ravens.

Once again, the first half seemed to be where all of the action was. For the second-straight game the Cobras were able to score two goals in the opening half, however, they surrendered six goals to the Ravens.

Hillcrest Academy blanked Sigourney-Keota in the second half. During the second 40-minute half the Ravens were able to score five goals to take the 11-2 overall victory.

The Cobras continued to shoot throughout the game, but the defense gave up constant shots to the Ravens in the contest.

Overall the Cobras stand at 1-8 on the season. The next game for the Cobras will be this Friday night when they take on Albia (2-7).
