Keota falls in pair of games

KEOTA – Some weeks, the games just don’t go in your favor. 

That was the case for Keota last week as they fell to both Lynnville-Sully and Iowa Valley.

On June 5 the Eagles started their week against the defending class 1A State champions, Lynnville-Sully. They were bested 10-1 in that game. 

Keota started with a run in the third inning. Their lead was short lived. The Hawks scored three runs in the fourth, five in the fifth and one run in both the sixth and seventh innings. 

Blake Baker had two hits in the game, a single and a double. Jackson Vittetoe had a sacrifice RBI which allowed Baker to score the lone run of the game. 

Baker also pitched for four and a third innings. He gave up four hits, six runs, three of them earned. He struck out two batters. 

Brycen Horras pitched for two and two thirds innings. During that time he allowed two hits, four runs, one earned. He struck out one batter and walked three. 

On Friday the Eagles fell to Iowa Valley 12-2. Iowa Valley built a 5-1 lead after two innings. The Tigers added three more runs in the third. Keota scored their second run in the top of the fifth, but Iowa Valley ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a four-run inning.

Brennan McGuire and Baker both had RBIs in the game. Baker had two hits. Ashton Galindo and Brycen Horras both had singles. 

Billie Kindred pitched for three innings. He gave up seven hits. Overall he allowed eight runs, two of them earned. 

McGuire pitched for one and two-thirds innings. He gave up three hits, four runs, one earned. He also stuck out one batter. 

Overall the Eagles are 2-4 this year.
