PACKWOOD – Students and staff at Pekin High School gathered Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the men and women who have served our nation during a special Veterans Day Assembly.

The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with the Richland Legion posting the colors, followed by the National Anthem at 10:05. Student Brody Sobaski offered a warm welcome before Anna Hadley presented a brief history of Veterans Day. Larry Sobaski then introduced guest speaker Don Mosinski, who shared reflections on service and patriotism.

The program also featured moving performances by Pekin students, including “Taps” played by Wyatt Brown and Cole Millikin, and Emerson Porter’s recitation of the poem In Flanders Fields. The Pekin High School Band concluded the ceremony with Salute to America’s Finest, arranged by Paul Lavender.

Senior Hailey Pedrick provided closing remarks, thanking veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to preserving freedom. The assembly served as a meaningful reminder of the gratitude the Pekin community holds for those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
