SIGOURNEY โ During the Nov. 19 meeting of the Sigourney City Council, Code Enforcer Doug Glandon gave an overview of his duties, explaining that he had dealt with 354 violations this year, some dealt with by fines and some dealt with by warnings. He explained that most people pay their finds. Glandon explained that a lot of his job is spent on building inspections and on ensuring that cars are not illegally parked on Monday mornings, during street sweeping. He stated that the number of cars parking on the square on Monday mornings had gone down from 18 to 4.
Also at the Wednesday meeting, the council approved having the Public Works Department provide the poles and labor to install the new walkability signs. Councilman Gary Iosbaker noted that participation at the KCED Raffle was down this year, with 137 tickets being sold, compared to last yearโs 160. The council approved hiring Lara Davis as the soccer director; this will be her third year as director. Councilwoman Stephani Lentz stated that multiple people had spoken to her about problems with children riding electric scooters or mopeds.
