VINTON – The Southeast Iowa High School Speech Association State contest was held at Vinton-Shellsburg on March 14. Students who previously earned “I” ratings at the district level performed before a harsher panel of three judges.

The goal of every student competing at the State contests is to earn a coveted nomination to perform at the All State Festival, held on March 30 at the University of Northern Iowa. To reach the All State Festival, students must give impeccable performances and receive both a I rating and a recommendation from at least two judges.
