Ideas for Sigourney 4th of July Discussed

SIGOURNEY – A meeting was held at Sigourney City Hall on March 19, where members of the public discussed possible ideas for events during the 4th of July holiday. The schedule discussed at that meeting is not officially set in stone and the dates and times of these events may change. Events discussed include:

  • Kids events like a patriotic singalong, chalk drawings, a kiddie parade and street dance the night of the 2nd.

  • A poker run the morning of the 3rd from 6-7 a.m.

  • A hospice pie auction at 5:30 p.m. on the 3rd.

  • A Lucky Duck event the evening of the 3rd.

  • A Tyler Richton and The High Bank Boys concert on the square at around 7:30 p.m.

  • A Kiwanis beer tent during the concert.

  • Bouncy houses the night of the 3rd.

  • A kids wiffleball tournament, date undecided.

  • A parade at 10:30 a.m. on the 4th.

  • Root beer floats at the Methodist Church after the parade.

  • A Kiwanis meal at noon on the 4th.

  • Trivia at the park the afternoon of the 4th.

  • An “America Says” game show at the pavilion at 2 p.m.

  • A tractor pull the evening of the 4th.

  • Fireworks the night of the 4th.

  • A ecumenical church service at the pavilion on the 5th, at 10 a.m.

  • A continuous Bible reading at the band stand going from Friday through Sunday.

  • Possibly an adults slow pitch tournament, put put, or a community workout at some point during the weekend.
