SIGOURNEY – During the March 17 meeting of the Keokuk County Board of Supervisors, the board approved giving Sheriff Casey Hinnah a $10,000 raise, from $98,866 to $108,866. This roughly 10% raise was done in accordance with the Back the Blue Act, which mandated that sheriff salaries be increased to match those of cities with comparable populations; Supervisor Daryl Wood stated the new salary was similar to that of Keokuk in Lee County, which has a population comparable to Keokuk County.
The board approved renewing IGHP Insurance, with an increase of $10 more a month in premiums, to help with partial self-funding. The board approved participating in the Six Remnant Defendants National Opioid Settlement. The board set the time and date for the FY2027 budget hearing at 9:00 a.m. on April 6.
