Panther girls claim conference title Pekin boys place second at conference meet

WAYLAND – Success wasn’t hard to find for either team on Thursday night. 

The Pekin girls track team proved that at the South East Iowa Super Conference meet as they were able to win with 139 points. The boys placed second with a team score of 155, Columbus Junction won the boys meet with a time of 179. 

Wins seemed easy to come by for the Panthers especially in the girls races. 

Girls results:

Chloe Glosser won the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:57.27, nearly 10 seconds faster than the second place finisher.  Glosser added another Conference title to her name as she won the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:47.96. 

Kayse Miller was able to win the high jump with a leap that cleared five feet. Reece Brisby was third after clearing 4-feet-8-inches. 

Anna Hadley was able to win the shot put with a throw of 35-feet-8-inches. She launched the discus a total of 137-feet-5-inches to win that event as well. Grace Phillips was fourth in the discus with a throw of 88-feet-10-inches. 

Another win came in the shuttle hurdle relay event as the Panthers were able to finish with a time of 1:10.93, nearly three seconds ahead of the second place team. 

Paislee Coleman was second in the 100 hurdles. Reece Brisby was third in the same race.

Carlie Gambell placed second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:16.73.

Another second place finish was turned in by the 4×800 team. The distance medley relay team would finish third.    

In the 4×400 the girls raced to a fourth place finish. 

Addison Smith placed fifth in the 100 meter dash. She backed that up with another fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash. Pekin’s 4×100 team was fifth overall. 

Callie Deutschle placed sixth in the 800 meter run. Harper Guise was seventh in the same race. 

The 4×200 team placed seventh overall.   

Harper Guise was eighth in the 400 meter dash. The sprint medley relay team finished in eighth.

The boys were able to add several wins as well:

Riley Smith was able to win the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.21, more than four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. 

Alton Williams was able to win the discus with a throw of 138-feet-9-inches. Caden Bender placed sixth in the same event.

In the 4×200 race the team of Robert Brown, Nolan Glick, Riley Smith and Will Adam won with a time of 1:32.06.

Another win came in the 4×400 where the team of Glick, Mason Dahlstrom, Will Adam and Sobaski had a winning time of 3:38.12.   

In the 4×800 relay the team of Dahlstrom, Lane Fariss, Landon Crow and Cole Millikin won with a time of 8:42.22. 

The sprint medley team of Kasey Davis, Brown, Smith and Glick had the fastest time of 1:36.81 to claim the win. 

Will Adam was second in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet-1-inch. Henry Adam placed fourth with a leap of 18-feet-7.5-inches. 

Caden Bender was second in the shot put with a throw of 46-feet-3-inches. 

Another second place finish was turned in by Cole Millikin in the 3,200 with a time of 10:31.32. 

Kasey Davis was third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.79. Brody Sobaski was third in the high jump after clearing 5-feet-6-inches. Jaxon Mefford was fifth. 

In the 4×100 the Pekin boys placed third.

Pekin was second in the shuttle hurdle relay race with a time of 1:02.5.  

Cody Silvers placed fourth in the 400 meter dash. He finished just ahead of Cael Silvers who was fifth. 

Millikin would place fourth in the 1,600 meter run. 

Hayden Miller was fifth overall in the 100 meter dash. Nolan Glick placed ninth.

The distance medley team placed fifth. 

Landon Crow was seventh in the 800 meter run. 

Brody Sobaski was seventh overall in the 200 meter dash. Henry Eubanks was 12th.
