RICHLAND \u2013 The fifth annual Harvest Time Rumble car show in Richland was held at the town ballfields on Sept. 20. Winning “Best in Show” was Terry and Cyndy Crafton of Richland’s 1986 Chevy Chevelle. The Craftons were also awarded the SS Mobile Blasting Choice Award and Muscle Card Class Award. The Craftons have owned the Chevelle for six years. It underwent a four-year-long off-body restoration project, with their son Shawn McBeth handling most of the mechanical work, and additional work being done by Mike’s Parts & Service and Copeland Auto Body.<\/p>\n

“I always wanted an older car,” said Cyndy Crafton.<\/p>\n

The Spectators’ Choice Award went to Mike Shelangoski of Mt. Pleasant’s 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, which also was awarded a Convertible Class Award. Shelangoski purchased his Pontiac in 1998. The car is nearly completely original and earned heavy attention from the crowd due to its resemblance to the car driven by the titular protagonist in Smokey and the Bandit films, specifically the car from the 1980 sequel.<\/p>\n

“I’m third owner, and I’m originally from Fairfield, and our neighbors were an older couple that had this car, and I’ve known it pretty much since I was a small child. I always saw him driving by the house, and I just fell in love with the car, and they put it up for sale after the husband passed away, and I bought it. The rest, like they say, is history,” said Shelangoski.<\/p>\n
