SIGOURNEY \u2013 On March 21, 22 and 23, Sigourney High School put on performances of \u201cBad Auditions by Bad Actors\u201d by Ian McWethy. The play starred Cera Hahn as a frustrated director and Ella Bahlmann as her assistant, who deal with an endless parade of terrible actors auditioning for \u201cRomeo and Juliet,\u201d including an aggressive weightlifter, an escaped convict, a method actor, a guy with a puppet, and more. The play featured Chris McLennan, Jolie Wehr, Karma Coble, Isaac Jones, Gracie Gillam, Cooper Hammes and Addison Richardson playing various auditionees. The play was directed by Devin Molenburg, with Eden Hahn working as a student director and Chloe Martin working backstage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s so much different than the ones I\u2019ve done the last three years,\u201d said Molenburg. \u201cThis one\u2019s like super funny and super modern. So it was just a good switch-up for these kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in this play for the last two years, but I think I enjoyed this play the most,\u201d said Freshman Chris McLennan. \u201cIt\u2019s really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seemed interesting and it was definitely different,\u201d said Junior Jolie Wehr.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I just wanted to expand my horizons and explore new things,\u201d said Junior Gracie Gillam.<\/p>\n
\u201c(I tried out) to try something and obviously keep going and having fun with it, because it\u2019s really awesome,\u201d said Sophomore Cooper Hammes.<\/p>\n
The play\u2019s small cast resulted in most of the cast playing multiple different characters. \u201cI think it\u2019s fun bouncing between characters and just pretending to be somebody else,\u201d said Gillam.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like it\u2019s been fairly easy,\u201d said McLennan.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know, I like it,\u201d said Wehr.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been super fun seeing them do it, because you go from like, Jolie has one character who\u2019s super into herself, and then the next one is this really sweet girl,\u201d said Molenburg. \u201cCooper has some really ridiculous parts, and Isaac, I think he is going to be a crowd favorite, because every character Isaac Jones plays is somebody who is just crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think my favorite is when Cooper brings out his puppet, because it\u2019s funny watching him backstage,\u201d said Gillam.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think my favorite scene is my scene with Cooper where he yells at me a lot and basically tells me I\u2019m doing everything wrong,\u201d said Wehr.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the biggest difficulty for this season has just been so much sickness,\u201d said Molenburg. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a surgery, we\u2019ve had sickness, we\u2019ve had a stem trip. It kinda worked out perfectly, with different roles, but it also kind of hurt us in some ways, that people weren\u2019t all together at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a little different memorizing all the different parts, but I like it that way,\u201d said Gillam.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d say the biggest challenge for me is sometimes it\u2019s kind of hard to jump into different characters and like kind of switching I guess,\u201d said Wehr.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think there were any troubles I really had. I think it actually has just been really good,\u201d said Hammes.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy main trouble is that almost every part is absolutely hilarious and when I\u2019m backstage, I just keep laughing, even though it\u2019s very clear that I\u2019m laughing,\u201d said McLennan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
