For the past few years, The Graphic-Advocate’s website has served as a vehicle to encourage its readers to pick up hard copies of the newspaper for news stories, features and sports from around the community.
This Friday, readers can now read compelling feature stories, local news and South Central Calhoun sports in its entirety at http://thegraphic-advocate.com/ and enjoy a contemporary appearance.
The Graphic-Advocate prides itself on being on the forefront of innovation within its parent company, Mid-America Publishing, and will be among the first five newspapers to adopt the new website layout.
The other sister publications to inherit changes alongside The Graphic-Advocate are The Grundy Register, The Hampton Chronicle and the Butler County Tribune-Journal/Clarksville Star.
Not only will the website have a new streamlined look, it will also be friendly to mobile devices, according to Christina Risting, Mid-America Publishing’s Director of Digital Services.
“I believe that The Graphic-Advocate’s readers are going to enjoy the new site,” said Risting. “It will give better benefits, like being able to view full stories and being able to read them from their mobile devices.”
Risting also stated that users can enjoy a pronounced ease of access and find the stories they want to read and enjoy.
“The other great thing is they will be able find stories a lot easier,” Risting said. “On our old platform, sports and occasionally some news wouldn’t be prominent on the homepage. Now, we have fixed that issue. The new site will be mobile friendly with full stories online. The e-edition will be shown differently within the web page but the paper hasn’t changed.”
Among the largest changes to the website is the introduction of “Top Headlines” at the right side of the home page. Underneath the marquee is where featured stories will be location, followed by a quick directory of News, Opinions, Sports and Obituaries.
Then, readers can find the E-Edition and Special Sections beneath the quick news categories.
Even with the changes to the website, The Graphic-Advocate will continue to complement its award-winning print editions by providing updates and video from various events to its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/thegraphicadvocate/) and Twitter feed at “@GraphicAdvocate” and regularly posting photo galleries to its SmugMug page at https://midamericapublishing.smugmug.com/GraphicAdvocate.
