Final volleyball stats show Middleton, Friesleben and Jondle on top

            The 2019 Cowgirl volleyball team finished a great season at 30-7 overall, with a perfect 7-0 record as North Central Conference champs. Humboldt was second at 6-1 and Algona third at 5-2. Because of that, they landed five players on the All-NCC teams. Middleton, Friesleben and Jondle all earned spots on the First Team, Lienemann on the Second Team and Lane on the Third Team as a freshman. The team advanced all the way to the state 2A semifinals before bowing out. They finished 78-17 overall in sets and 12-1 in NCC sets.

            The team had 1,789 successful serves out of 1,946 attempts in 92 total sets. That made for a 91.9 cumulative serving efficiency. There were 275 aces (up from 199 a year ago) for an average of 2.99 per set. Jadyn Jondle was 363 out of 405 in serves for 89.6 percent. Alaina Friesleben was 338 out of 370 for 91.4 percent. Morgan Middleton was 327 out of 348 for 94.0 percent. Kendall Lienemann was 291 out of 317 for 91.8 percent. Lexie Lane was 241 out of 259 for 93.1 percent. Nicole Waters was 190 out of 205 for 92.7 percent.

            Delia Swanson was 24 out of 25 for 96.0 percent. Jadyn Nelson was eight out of nine for 88.9 percent. Emma Conlon was four out of four for 100 percent. Clarissa Hasty was two out of three for 66.7 percent. Brooke Askelsen was one out of one for 100 percent.

Ranked in order of efficiency percentage, regardless of number of serves, the order would be: Conlon 100 percent; Askelsen 100 percent; Swanson 96.0 percent; Middleton 94.0 percent; Lane 93.1 percent; Waters 92.7 percent; Lienemann 91.8 percent; Friesleben 91.4 percent; Jondle 89.6 percent; Nelson 88.9 percent and Hasty 66.7 percent.

            The top eight in aces were Jondle with 65, Middleton and Friesleben with 54 each, Lienemann with 41, Lane with 32, Waters with 26, Hasty with two and Swanson with one.

The team had 906 total assists for an average of 9.85 per set. Friesleben set for 823 of them, followed by Jondle with 56, Middleton with eight, Lienemann with seven, Lane with four, Summer Traub with three, Conlon and Waters with two each and Swanson with one.

            The team had 1,027 total kills in 2,443 attack attempts for an average of 11.16 per set (up from 10.28 last year). The top 11 in kills were: Middleton with 577; Lienemann with 243; Lane with 91; Friesleben with 48; Waters with 27; Traub with 21; Jondle and Swanson with six each; Nikki Kapka with five; Conlon with two and Hasty with one.

            The team totaled 1,192 digs for an average of 12.96 per set (up from 11.08 last year). The top 12 in digs were: Jondle with 413; Lienemann with 211; Middleton with 190; Friesleben with 152; Conlon with 95; Lane with 48; Waters with 44; Traub with 17; Hasty with 13; Swanson with six; Askelsen with two and Kapka with one.

            The team had 118 total solo blocks and 63 total block assists, for an average of 1.97 blocks per set (up from 1.51 last year). The top eight in solo blocks were: Lane with 36; Middleton with 27; Friesleben with 18; Lienemann with 14; Traub with 11; Waters with nine; Swanson with two and Kapka with one. The top seven in block assists were: Lane with 17; Traub with 13; Friesleben with 12; Middleton with seven; Lienemann with six; Waters with five and Kapka with three.

            In conference matches only, the team was sixth in serving efficiency (90.7 percent), first in kill efficiency (.290) and second in total kills (277). Lienemann was 20th in serving at 94.3 percent, with Schwandt of Webster City and Zaugg of Humboldt tied for first at 100 percent (min. 35 attempts). Friesleben was second in assists at 235 total and 10.68 for set, trailing only McDaniel of Humboldt with 237 and 10.77. Jondle was 16th with 22 sets.

            Middleton led the league in total kills (151) and kills per set (6.86) Lienemann was sixth at 77 and 3.05. Middleton also led in kill efficiency at .344, with Lane third at .270 and Lienemann sixth at .238. Jondle was third in digs as the libero with 111 total and 5.05 per set. Middleton was 17th with 75 and 3.41. Lane tied for 10th in blocks with 14 total in league play, with Friesleben 14th at 11 and Traub 17th at eight.
