At their Monday meeting, the Wright County Board of Supervisors reviewed the final contract with U.S. Cellular for the revised tower lease agreement for the company to use more space on the tower located in Clarion. The company will be adding more antennas to the tower to update and enhance services. The price will go up $780 to be $1,642 per month, growing 2% per year. They signed off on the contract pending final approval by the county attorney.
The Wright County Library Association appeared before the board to give their annual update and request funding in the next budget. Clarion library board member Chad Chapman spoke on behalf of the association. He noted that all five of the county libraries saw impressive usage this past year with 346 kids programs conducted with over 8900 kids attending, plus many young adult and adult programs. Various members brought up the Bridges audiobook service that continues to be costly but very well used. The association asked the supervisors to consider a 5% increase in what they receive from the county, in addition to $1000 for each library for technology. Last year, the libraries received $127,720. Wright County is one of the top Iowa counties for giving library funding.
In other business, the board passed a resolution transferring funds from the capital projects fund to the debt services fund to refund the 2010 wind farm loan that was recently refinanced. Reilly Construction noted that they are working to get the pond area shaped up at the Agri-business construction site. They also plan to start the storm and sanitary sewers in the following weeks.
