The Cowgirl basketball team was clicking on all cylinders last Monday in a 60-39 home win over Eagle Grove. They took a 14-7 lead after a quarter of play and never looked back from there in going out to a 39-21 advantage at the break.
Three ladies in red & black hit from double digits in scoring, as both Courtney Harle and Morgan Middleton pumped in 12 points each while Quinn Hansch chipped in 10 points including three baskets from long range. Raven Kinnetz was close at eight points, followed by Kendall Lienemann with seven points, Jadyn Jondle with five points, Emma Conlon with four points and Alaina Friesleben with two points.
Harle and Middleton both posted a double-double by snagging 11 rebounds each, followed by Jondle with six and both Kinnetz and Lienemann at five each. Hansch had three and Emma Keller two. Kinnetz dished the pumpkin for six assists, with Lienemann making three and Jondle two. Hansch, Lexie Lane and Middleton were all credited with one each. Kinnetz and Harle were both aggressive on defense in making eight steals each. Jondle picked off four, Hansch three and Middleton one. Jondle and Lienemann managed a blocked shot each to complete their night’s work.
The team lost to a talented Clear Lake squad 69-49 last Tuesday, snapping an eight-game win streak. The score was 30-21 in favor of the Lions at halftime. Three players again reached double figure scoring. Hansch led by swishing the nets for 14 points including four buckets from beyond the arc. Kinnetz scored 13 points with one trey and Middleton 10 points including 4 of 7 from the line. Harle scored six points, Lienemann four points and Conlon two points of the total.
Harle was a force on the boards in skying for 11 rebounds. Middleton grabbed seven caroms, Jondle and Kinnetz three each and Hansch two. Conlon added one. Jondle dished up four assists, with Kinnetz at three and Middleton two. Harle made one set-up for a teammate. Kinnetz grabbed four steals, with Jondle and Middleton at three pick-offs each. Hansch had two and Conlon one.
The team hosts Algona next Thursday in a rescheduled game, then stays home for Humboldt on Friday for Winterfest activities.
