Although people living in Clarion didn’t go to the polls last week, others in Wright County did for a special election. The issues that people voted on varied depending on where voters live in the county. Here are the results of some of those elections:
A North Iowa Area Community College bond issue voted on by residents in Belmond, Rowan, and the B-K, CAL, West Fork and West Hancock school districts passed. This measure will result in a $15 million bond for improvements at NIACC.
A measure for the continuation of a 1% local option sales and services tax for unincorporated rural areas of the county passed. Revenues from the tax will be deposited in the Rural Service Fund.
Voters in Galt and Goldfield also voted to pass 1% local option sales and services taxes in their towns. There will now be no sunset on these types of taxes county-wide.
