Last weekend, the Clarion Movie Theater joined a growing number of theaters in an effort to stay in business and serve the community. On Sunday evening, the theater set up a drive-thru concession stand where they served popcorn to people in their vehicles. Though they were only open an hour and a half, they sold around 200 extra-large bags of popcorn after popping around 75 pounds of kernels in 68 batches, said theater manager LeeAnn Johnson. Per state-mandate, the theater has been closed the last several weeks. After being closed for that long, Johnson was excited to be able to offer the community a bit of the theater. She was impressed by the generosity and kindness she saw. Johnson explained that several people throughout the popcorn sale “paid it forward” by paying for others’ popcorn, including one man who paid for the last several cars without even taking popcorn for himself. Johnson emphasized, “It was an amazing, awesome day! We definitely have a wonderful community! During this scary time, it's great to know we have a town full of caring and thoughtful people.” The theater plans to continue the popcorn sales in the future. Check their website for dates.
