During the weekly Wright County Supervisors meeting, Sandy McGrath provided an update from the Emergency Operations Center on COVID-19 in Wright County. As of Monday morning, she noted that the Iowa DPH has 292 cases recorded for the county. She indicated that the county is starting more large industry testing. She feels they are still doing a good job staying ahead and catching cases as well as contact tracing for confirmed cases. McGrath expects to see an uptick in cases now that businesses are opening back up. She also noted that she personally has again tested negative for COVID-19 and views that as a testament of PPE and masks doing their jobs.
Julia Pals, President of the Insurance Committee, presented on the county’s insurance renewals. The county will pay a $239,000 premium, which is a $3,648 increase. Pals also noted that Bud Young had resigned from the committee and asked that the board approve Andy Young as his replacement, which was agreed upon.
The weekly conference call with ISG Engineering and Reilly Construction on the Agri-Business Park indicated that more paving will be completed this week. The two entities will also be conducting a walk-through soon to investigate any issues and needed fixes.
The meeting concluded with two closed sessions. The board went a closed session with drainage attorney Dave Johnson to discuss the Pogge land bridge. They also went into closed session to discuss the offer to buy real estate and acceptance within the Agri-Business Park. After the closed session, they asked county attorney Eric Simonson to prepare a counteroffer. A public hearing for sale of property in Agri-Business Park will be held at the next meeting on June 22 at 9:45 a.m.
