At the Monday meeting of the Wright County Board of Supervisors, Cindy Litwiller, Economic Development Director, presented to the board for approval a FmHA relending loan to Wright County Family Dentistry in the amount of $150,000. Dr. Heather Anderson, who is heading the general practice dental office, spoke briefly. She noted she started practicing in the area in 2014, was out of the area for a while and is now happy to be back. “I’m excited to be back and am looking forward to serving those in Wright County,” she said. Anderson’s practice is going up on the west side of Clarion and is likely to open in November or December. The Board approved the loan for period of 10 years, with a rate of 3.25% for years 1-5, and 5% for years 6-10.
In the weekly update from the Emergency Operations Center on COVID-19, Sandy McGrath noted that Region 2, which Wright County is a part of, has seen a slight uptick in COVID patients admitted to the hospital, with 19 admitted currently. She added that in the region, there are 42 beds available for patients and 39 ventilators. As of Monday, there have been 385 positive cases in the county, with 295 of those having recovered. McGrath said Iowa Specialty Hospital and Public Health are working together to generate signage for businesses regarding mask-wearing, which they are still strongly encouraging rather than requiring at this time.
Attorney Dave Johnson spoke to the board about the house located to the east of the Public Health Annex building on 1st Ave SE. The homeowner is planning on selling the home and wants to inform potential buyers about the property line. There is a bench at the county building that is not used much and hangs over the property line unto the homeowner’s property. The board agreed they would remove the bench if the homeowner asks. There is also a French drain system on both properties that they would allow the homeowner to tie into if requested. Johnson added that a signed agreement between the homeowner and the county would be necessary if these steps are taken.
In other board action:
-Assessor Shari Plagge presented Homestead Credits, Military Exemptions, Disabled Veterans Homestead Credits and Business Property Tax Credits (BPTC) for approval.
-The board received the county department’s cash counts as of June 30 and the monthly revenue report from the sheriff.
There was no conference call held with ISG and Reilly Construction on the Agribusiness Park as the board planned to have a walkthrough with both companies on Tuesday morning at the site.
