On Wednesday, November 18, the CGDHS Competition Dance Team competed at the 2020-2021 ISDTA State Dance Team & Solo Competition in Des Moines. This year's competition was a three-day event, which included Team Routines and Solo dances from high schools across the state of Iowa. The CGDHS Competition Dance Team competed in the Class I Lyrical Category and the Class II Jazz Category. They also had six members compete in the Class III Solo Division. (Class size is determined by school size and the number of schools competing in each category.)
While the results of the competition won't be announced until Saturday, December 5th (via a virtual awards ceremony), the CGDHS Dancers did earn the Distinguished Academic Award for the second year in a row. This honor is awarded to teams whose members achieved a team average GPA of 3.5 – 4.0 the previous academic year. Congratulation on all your accomplishments!
Members of the 2020-2021 CGDHS Competition Dance Team are: Natalie Kirstein (Captain), Emma Conlon (Co-Captain), Ashtyn DeCoster (Co-Captain), Olyvia Olson, Payton DeCoster, Karlee Lehman, Kennedy Trca, Natasha Johnson, and Elizabeth Hodson. Coaches are Nikki Conlon (head coach) and Alayna Watts (assistant coach).
