In a game played November 30, the Cowboy basketball team hosted Eagle Grove and came away with a 51-32 win after leading 26-14 at the break. They shot 44 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from the charity line and 17.6 percent from three-point range.
Mateo Martinez led the way with 18 points, which included a trey and a nice 3 of 4 at the line. Connor State racked up 14 points on 7 of 9 from the field, Nevan Foss finished with nine points and both Coady Olson and Tyson Berning three points each. Aiden Harrington and Gavin Wilson tossed in a bucket each for the total.
State led the rebound column with six total, followed by Jaxon Carpenter, Foss and Cael Chase all at three caroms each. Martinez and Chase had three assists each, Martinez six steals and State two blocked shots.
They dropped a close game on Tuesday at South Hardin 54-48. State finished with 13, Martinez 12 and Harrington 10 points. Olson scored nine points and Carpenter three points. Carpenter and Harrington had five rebounds each and Foss four. Martinez had six assists, Carpenter four and Harrington two.
On Friday night they hosted St. Edmond and lost 62-57 to the Gaels. State scored 18 points, Martinez 14 and Carpenter 10. Olson was close to double-digits at nine points, while Harrington made four and Chase two counters. Those were the only stats available at press time.
