Gold-Eagle donates to Holmes Christmas Club

Gold-Eagle Cooperative, with the help of CoBank and Land O’ Lakes, proudly presented Monty Anderson, Holmes Christmas Club board member, with a check for $3,000 recently. The Holmes Christmas Club was founded in Holmes in 1943. There was a family residing in the small town that didn’t have enough money to buy Christmas presents for their children that holiday season, so a group of friends, over a card game, decided to pitch in to bless the family that year. They so enjoyed helping that household, that they did it again the following year. Since then, it has grown into a community-wide once-a-year fundraising auction that supports Wright County residents with money to aid in the care of sick loved ones, churches giving to families who may need a little extra help, and shut-ins and nursing home residents with a fruit basket every year to name just a few things. This year, things have looked a little different with the Holmes auction not taking place, but the group has still worked to aid many in the area by offering things like Chamber gift certificates.
