High School Virtual Concert rings with joy!

With the CGD High School band playing “And All The Bells Shall Ring!,” the jazz band performing “Jingle Bell Rock,” and the concert choir singing “Carol of the Bells,” beautiful holiday music was RINGING out during the high school’s virtual concert two weeks ago even though people had to tune-in online. Because of gathering restrictions and under advice from Wright County Public Health, the public was not able to attend the concerts in person. As a result, the school live-streamed the concert. David Ackerman, 6-12 Vocal Music Instructor, reported that almost 400 people streamed the event. He was pleased with how it went. High School Band Director Kent Wesselink was also happy with the concert. He said, “The concert went very well, and I could not be prouder of the student musicians.  We are accustomed to performing for a live audience and feeling their response as we perform. The virtual performance was a very different experience but a real-world situation that so many other professional performers are having to embrace in order to have an audience. A big thank you to Kevin Katz & Jon Dahlke for their technical expertise in capturing the audio/video from the concert and setting up the live-stream for our audience. Thank you to those who tuned in for our virtual concert and your continued support of music at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Schools!” Pictured are the high school band and choir. Photos provided
