“Playing a one-win team right before break can sometimes be a challenge,” stated head coach Liz Ennis. <p> “The athletes are ready for a break, but I talked about the importance of not overlooking this game. We needed to show up focused and ready to get a win going into the holidays. Algona was very patient with their offensive set. They play a very slow-down type of game, which is not our style. As a result, the first quarter ended at 5-5. We needed something to get us going and spark some intensity, so we changed to a man-to-man defense. I think this got us moving a little better and as a result we had a nice second quarter in outscoring them 15 to two. We came out and played well in the third period, but maybe lost our intensity a bit in the fourth while still finishing with a good margin of victory. Raven made her 1,000th career point and had an equally good night on defense with seven steals. Jadyn played well, while Morgan was heavily pressured but found a way to help in other ways by her assists and grabbing some nice rebounds. Alaina and Kendall also had some nice board work, even though they weren’t big scorers.”
