In a game played last Tuesday in Pocahontas, the Cowgirls lost 66-44 to the Indians. The home team was up 18-10 after one quarter and 37-24 at the break. The Cowgirls finished with 22.7 percent from the field, 64.7 percent from the line and 13.6 percent from beyond the arc. They had 35 total rebounds (18 defensively), nine total assists, 13 total steals and five total blocked shots.
Raven Kinnetz led the column by netting 19 points with two treys and a nice 5 of 6 at the line. Jadyn Jondle added seven points and Lexie Lane, Morgan Middleton and Emma Conlon all five points apiece. Nicole Waters scored a bucket and Sawyer Morrical a free throw to complete the total. Lane and Conlon grabbed seven boards apiece, with Middleton tallying up five and both Kinnetz and Kendall Lienemann four each. Jondle and Waters got their hands on three caroms each, while Summer Traub and Morrical made one each. Lane dished the pumpkin for three assists, followed by Lienemann and Middleton at two each. Waters and Conlon added one each to their lines. Kinnetz was busy picking pockets for eight steals, followed by Conlon with two and Jondle, Lane and Morrical all at one apiece. Jondle went vertical for three blocked shots, with Lienemann and Middleton making one each.
“We came out very flat,” stated head coach Liz Ennis. “We put up shots too quickly and didn’t get back on defense quite a few times. PAC was very aggressive and rebounded extremely well. Unfortunately, we shot 23 percent from the field and just over 13 percent in three’s. You can’t win games when the ball won’t go through the basket. The girls put forth effort, but we were off on our shooting and could never get back into this one. Sometimes you’ve got to take a game like this as a learning experience and come back better the next time.”
