CGD schools cancelled Friday to allow for vaccinations

Last week, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Superintendent Joe Nelson announced that school is cancelled this Friday, February 5, to allow district personnel to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Nelson said that ALL district employees will be able to receive the vaccine on Friday free of charge. “Employees are the greatest resource we have in our school district, and we value their health and safety as a top priority,” he emphasized.

The voluntary vaccine clinics will be held on-site at the school libraries. Nelson noted that the vaccinations will be given under the care of Wright County Public Health and the district’s nurses. Because of the need to monitor district staff as they receive the vaccines and after, the district decided to cancel school that day.

Nelson added, “I’d like to praise the efforts of students, staff, and families who have complied with the COVID-19 mitigation strategies put in place from the onset of this school year. Thanks to those efforts, we have been able to meet our goal of keeping school open every day for all students since August 24th. I’m proud of the commitment I have seen from our staff and communities to keep our students in school.”
