Clarion-Goldfield-Dows announced last week that Mr. Paul Hansch has formally been offered the high school principal position. The district posted the job from December 17, 2020 through January 17, 2021. The posting resulted in eleven applicants for the job.
The district conducted screening interviews the week of January 18 and identified Mr. Hansch and Mr. Kyle Teeselink as finalists for the position. Hansch had been acting as CGD’s interim high school principal and guidance counselor for the last ten months. Teeselink is Eagle Grove Schools Teacher Leadership & 7-12 Curriculum Director. Both candidates formally interviewed for the position with four different interview teams on Tuesday, January 26.
Based on the feedback from the interview teams, Superintendent Joe Nelson and the CGD School Board offered Hansch the full-time high school principal position.
Mr. Hansch has been with the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Community School District since 1994 when he started as a high school social studies teacher. He served as the head football coach from 1995-2015 and Guidance Counselor from 2007-present. He has also been a boys and girls basketball coach and assistant football coach. His prior experience includes serving as a football coach and high school teacher for Rockwell-City- Lytton from 1990-1994.
Hansch has a Bachelor of Science teaching degree from Mankato State University. He earned his Master of Science in Education – School Counseling from Wayne State College in 1996. His administrator endorsement was earned through the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy.
Superintendent Nelson said, “The district is excited for Paul’s continued leadership and service to the district. The hiring process, supported by Grundmeyer Leader Services, made clear that Paul was the best candidate to serve the district as the High School Principal.”
