CGDHS Chorus competes in Solo/Small Ensemble State Vocal Contest

On Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13, students from the CGDHS Chorus recorded for the VIRTUAL Solo/Small Ensemble State Contest.  On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the students were judged virtually.  Results were finalized Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.  The vocal music department received 9 Division I (Superior) ratings, 5 Division II (Excellent) ratings, and 1 Division III (Good) rating.  The students represented CGDHS very well, and the students performed to the best of their abilities.  “I was extremely proud of every student who was involved in contest.  Also, many students were experiencing contest for the very first time.  Now that the students have some experience, it is my hope that they do the extra things that make a difference. Solo/Small Ensemble State Contest is not required for chorus students.  However, Large Group State Contest in May is required,” commented Mr. David Ackerman, high school vocal music instructor.  Mr. Ackerman accompanied 4 soloists and 11 ensembles.

The participating students and Mr. Ackerman would like to thank the HS teachers for being flexible and understanding over the past 8 weeks!
